Stories of Agriculture

The Georgia National Fair’s award-winning Stories of Agriculture features 17 educational displays.

The various agricultural commodities and livestock exhibits are located throughout the Faigrounds. All Fairgoers are welcome to stop by and learn more about Georgia’s Number One industry, agriculture.

Wool Story – Miller-Murphy-Howard

Watch wool as it is spun into yarn. How do they get all those colors?!

Rabbit Story – Multipurpose Building

See dozens of breeds of rabbits and cavies. Pet the rabbit in the petting box. You will see, they are much more than just pets.

Cotton Story – Georgia Grown Building

Today, the world uses more cotton than any other fiber, and cotton is a leading cash crop in Georgia and the United States.

Taste honey made from different types of flowers and see hard working honey bees on the job in a live beehive!

Beef Story – Beef & Dairy Barn

Focus on the many products derived from beef cattle besides meat and meat products! This is an important part of our everyday lives.

Georgia Water Quality – Miller-Murphy-Howard

Sit on a porch and watch a thunderstorm. Uncover our worst water pollution problems: erosion and sedimentation. The exhibit is provided by the University of Georgia Bio and Ag Engineering.

Antique Engines and Tractors – East Gate

Get a look at the tractors and machinery used years ago to harvest crops and provide food and fiber for families.

Mule and Tenant Farmer Statue – West Gate

The Honorable Larry Walker’s vision of a memorial to mules and tenant farmers pays tribute to the legendary backbone of Georgia’s agricultural heritage.

Dairy Story – Beef & Dairy Barn

Watch a cow being milked and sample the delicious results. Learn the history of dairy industry and the importance of milk and dairy products to our growth and development.

Goat & Sheep Story – Beef & Dairy Barn

This farm to plate overview includes live demonstrations of goat milking and wool processing.

Purgatory Iron Works – Near East Gate

This 2,000 year old craft will show you how bars of steel are hammered and transformed right in front of your eyes!
